Stockfish 19 Is Now Available on Chessify

Stockfish 19, the latest version of the world’s strongest chess engine, is now available for analysis on Chessify.

Released on September 5, 2026, Stockfish 19 brings another significant improvement in playing strength, along with updates to its neural network and training process.

Up to 44 Elo Stronger Than Stockfish 18

According to the official Stockfish testing, Stockfish 19 is up to 44 Elo stronger than Stockfish 18.

During testing, the new version won more than three times as many game pairs as it lost against its predecessor.

As with previous Stockfish releases, these improvements are the result of thousands of individual changes tested through Fishtest, Stockfish’s distributed testing system.

A New and Stronger Neural Network

One of the main changes in Stockfish 19 is the introduction of the new SFNNv16 neural network architecture.

The updated network removes some features that were no longer providing enough value and introduces new features related to pawn pairs and pawn structures. Despite being smaller than the network used by Stockfish 18, it delivers stronger evaluation.

Stockfish 19 also removes the secondary, smaller neural network used in previous versions. The engine now relies on a single network for evaluation.

Improved Neural Network Training

Stockfish 19 also introduces Quantization-Aware Training (QAT).

Stockfish uses lower-precision calculations when running its neural network to make evaluation faster. QAT allows the network to account for this during training, helping reduce the difference between how the network is trained and how it actually operates during analysis.

The training data includes hundreds of billions of chess positions, with positions evaluated using a strong Leela Chess Zero network.
