Chessify's Pivotal Moments of 2023: A Year in Review

Dec. 29, 2023, 10:59 a.m.

As we bid farewell to 2023, Chessify has much to celebrate. It's been a year of innovation, new collaborations, and community engagement. We've introduced multiple innovative features to our web platform, added new chess engines, and most importantly, we've welcomed GM Fabiano Caruana as our new brand ambassador. So let's revisit these transformative moments that have shaped Chessify's path in 2023 and helped us lead the way in digital chess technology and training.

The Best of Our New Features

In 2023, Chessify introduced several innovative features, many inspired by user requests. Among these, the most notable were the "internal search" and "multiple tabs" functionalities, full-game analysis, and the integration of the extensive Lichess online game database.

Internal Search

One of the earlier additions of 2023, the "Internal Search" functionality simplifies the process of finding saved PGN files by filtering them based on the position on the chessboard. A handy feature that is used by chess pros on a daily basis, it became available for all of our users in January 2023.

Multiple Tabs

This unique feature, absent in other chess programs, allows the opening of multiple PGN files or games side-by-side in a single browser tab with Chessify, enhancing user experience significantly.

Full-Game Analysis

Full-Game Analysis was a feature that was requested the most by our users. It does what its name suggests - analyzes your entire game with Stockfish with a single click. It provides a detailed analysis of each move of the game, including mistakes and inaccuracies, as well as suggests better alternatives where needed.

New engines - RubiChess and ShashChess

We've expanded our website with two new engines: RubiChess and ShashChess, both popular requests from our Discord community. These engines are among the top-rated in 2023, regularly competing in major chess engine tournaments. Join our Discord channel to participate in new feature discussions.

Lichess Database

The most sought-after feature according to our user survey, the Lichess database of over 6.7 billion games was integrated into Chessify in November 2023. This database functions like our main Mega database and is synced with Lichess for real-time updates.

Teaming Up With the Global Chess League to Revolutionize Live Game Analysis

In June, Chessify proudly collaborated with the Tech Mahindra Global Chess League (GCL), the world's first and largest official franchise chess league. GCL introduced unique mixed-gender teams and innovative formats, featuring chess icons like Magnus Carlsen, Vishy Anand, and Chessify's own ambassador, Levon Aronian. Notably, GCL's official website utilized Chessify's powerful cloud engines for live game analysis, showcasing our technology's impact in enhancing the chess viewing experience for fans worldwide.

Solving the Biggest Problem of Chess Databases

In May, we addressed a major pain point among professional chess players through the introduction of a unique database filter. With the help of this new filter, we've successfully segregated blitz, rapid, and online games to clear the clutter of lower-quality matches in our Mega game database. This essential tool, which is exclusive to our web platform, offers significantly a cleaner and more focused experience with chess database management.

Fabiano Caruana Joins Chessify as a Brand Ambassador

In late August, Chessify was honored to welcome Fabiano Caruana, the USA's top and world's second highest-rated Grandmaster, as a new brand ambassador. First using Chessify at the Superbet Chess Classic Romania in May 2023, which he won, Caruana has integrated Chessify's cloud analysis into his training since, finding it invaluable for opening preparations. This partnership reinforces Chessify's commitment to high-level collaborations, complementing our ongoing ambassador relationships with renowned Grandmasters Anish Giri and Levon Aronian.

Popular Mobile App Features Now on Our Website

We've brought the most popular features from our mobile apps, with over 700,000 downloads, to the Chessify website. Key among these are the chessboard and PDF scanners.

Chessboard Scanner

Our chessboard scanner, which is the most popular feature of our mobile applications, has been available on our website since March 2023. The website version allows users to upload or paste chessboard images and have their positions digitized and imported to Chessify instantly.

PDF Book Scanner

For chess book enthusiasts, the PDF book scanner is a dream feature. It converts chess PDF files into interactive E-Books, allowing users to digitize positions directly onto Chessify's analysis board, where they can analyze with engines and save for future reference.

Chess AI Buddy: Revolutionizing Chess Training with GPT Technology

Chessify introduced Chess AI Buddy, a transformative feature integrating GPT technology to enhance chess training. Utilizing Chessify's mega game database and engine analyses, Chess AI Buddy can offer unique insights and interpret complex chess positions in a beginner-friendly manner. The beta version launched in late November is currently in the hands of our early access community for testing, with a public release planned for 2024.

As we wrap up an innovative 2023 at Chessify, we're more excited for what lies ahead. The achievements of this year - new features, partnerships, and innovations, will pave the way for even more advancements. We would love you to become part of Chessify's future developments as well.
